Which narratives of individuality, independence and originality are hidden behind the promising concept of freedom in art? Is the deep-seated belief in artistic genius really useful for today's artistic practices? From the perspective of climate justice, we will exchange views on whose freedom is at stake when we are talking about artistic freedom. During the discussion evening, we pose the following questions: what could the task of artists and theatre institutions in the climate crisis be, and what would be gained if artistic freedom was no longer something to strive for?
Together with participants, the guests Catja Loepfe, director of the Tanzhaus Zürich, will speak with Alexandra Gavilano, environmental scientist and climate activist, Isabelle Vuong, cultural manager, curator and futurologist and Lina Hasenfratz, actress and climate activist in a moderated and open setting, moderated by KlimaKontor.
